What are the admissions criteria?  Am I eligible to attend?  (ADM1)
Acceptance to LaGuardia Arts is based on a competitive audition and review of student records to ensure success in both the demanding studio work and the challenging academic programs.  Students who are New York City residents in the 8th or 9th grade are eligible to audition.

Does a student have to live in New York City to attend LaGuardia Arts?  (ADM2)
Only NYC residents are eligible to attend LaGuardia Arts. In addition, a student must be living in NYC at the time of the audition.

My family just recently moved to NYC.  Am I eligible to attend? (ADM3)
LaGuardia Arts admits students entering 9th or 10th grade at the beginning of the school year only, and students typically audition in November or December for the following school year..    Families who move to NYC after our audition process but prior to September may be eligible to audition.  Please notify the Borough Enrollment Center at the time of your initial school placement to determine eligibility.

How may I take a tour of LaGuardia Arts? (ADM4)
Many of our performances are open to the public, and people get a feel of the school by visiting our performance spaces.  An Open House is held for accepted students each February.  Tours for educator groups may be arranged through our Admissions Office.  Please contact mstricklin@schools.nyc.gov

How do I arrange an audition? (ADM5)
In September of the 8th or 9th grade, students should inform their guidance counselor of their decision to audition so that an admission ticket can be issued for the appropriate audition(s).  Audition dates are determined by the location of the school a student is currently attending.

How much does it cost to attend? (ADM6)
LaGuardia Arts is a New York City public school, and there is no cost to attend; however, students are responsible for certain studio-specific expenses/purchases. For example, Dance students must provide their own dance shoes and rehearsal clothes; Instrumental students must provide their own instrument; Art students must provide their art supplies. Limited financial assistance may be provided in certain circumstances.

Do you accept students living out of state or in a foreign country? (ADM7)
Due to our residency requirements that a student must be a resident of the City of New York, we do not audition or accept students living out of state or in a foreign country.

When is your Open House? (ADM9)
We do not hold an Open House prior to our audition process; however, many of our performances are open to the public, and people get a feel of the school by visiting our performance spaces.
Students who are accepted to LaGuardia Arts for the following school year will be invited to attend an Open House in March. Students and families will be able to visit our different studios and academic classrooms on a self-guided tour. No matter what time you arrive, you will have the opportunity to attend a variety of Demonstrations or Question & Answer sessions.

How do I get tickets to events at LaGuardia Arts?  (GEN2)
Tickets are generally available immediately prior to a performance at the Box Office and are for General Admission. For certain performances, such as our Annual Musical, Spring Drama Festival, and Opera, reserved seat tickets may be purchased on line. All information regarding tickets sales is posted on our Home Page.

Are your facilities available to outside organizations or to rent? (GEN3)
Due to our performance calendar and production schedule, our facilities are often unavailable to outside organizations.  All building permits are handled through Mr. John Sommers, Assistant Principal, Organization.  You may reach him at JSommer@schools.nyc.gov.
